Jake was born and raised in Charlotte and attended the University of North Carolina at Charlotte graduating in 2016. After graduating, Jake started working as a Firefighter / EMT in the Town of Matthews and Wesley Chapel. Jake grew up playing sports and has been involved in fitness for the past ten years including bodybuilding, strength and conditioning, powerlifting, Crossfit and Olympic lifting. He started competing in Crossfit competitions around three years ago and Olympic lifting for the past two years. Jake competes in the 89kg weight class and has won / podiumed in local, regional, and national level meets and also competed at the 2020 Wodapalooza Weightlifting Faceoff. He is currently 2nd in his weight class in NC and 12 in the US. Jake is a NASM PT and Level 1 USAW Coach looking to spread his passion for weightlifting to others
Robert was born and raised right here in the Queen City and was an accomplished multi sport athlete at Charlotte Catholic High School playing football, lacrosse, and golf. He graduated from the University of South Carolina in 2011 and Charleston School of Law in 2015 where his focus in fitness was body building. As a practicing attorney in Charlotte, his interest turned to Crossfit where he fell in love with the Olympic Lifts and powerlifting. Robert competes as an 89 kg and 90 kg lifter, respectively. Robert has earned his CrossFit Level 1 certification and has been coaching athletes for 4 years. At Queen City Barbell, Robert is able to combine the intensity of Crossfit and the raw strength of powerlifting with the skill and technique of Olympic lifting to bring athletes to their peak performance.
Jake and Robert have been lifting and competing together since 2017 where they met at Crossfit Pineville. Both owners share a common passion for Olympic Weightlifting and the many benefits they give, directly related to other sports and overall quality of life. At Queen City Barbell, we are dedicated to helping all different level of athletes from beginner lifters, Crossfit Athletes, to competitive Olympic Weightlifters.
